practical difference between SOD323 and SOD323F?

(1/1)

Hello!

I was buying some zeners and noticed that SOD packages generally come in two flavors: with and without 'F' suffix. The dimensions look virtually identical, the only difference I can spot is how leads are formed. On SOD323F they are straight, on regular SOD323 they are bent. I wonder why one would choose one option over another. Does one type of diodes provide more stress relief, better thermal contact, lower inductance and/or lower cost than another?

I think I can answer my own questions. SOD323F has much lower thermal resistance. Presumably because leads are shorter.
