Portable Project cases!
« on: November 29, 2020, 12:37:31 am »
Woah! Nice place ya got here!

Alright, the question.

I'm working on a project with an ESP8266 based wemos D1 mini. This is something that needs to be portable and usable by not just me.

So I'm thinking case with an on/off switch and a 3 AA battery compartment.

Problem is this doesn't actually seem to exist as a project box type thing.

So question is where could I get something that has a 3xAA battery compartment, a power switch, IDEALLY a reset button but not required, and space for the actual stuff (the board and an RJ11 jack.

Your best bet for enclosures is to browse Digikey, Mouser or other suppliers or search directly for the manufactures and see what they have to offer. I know I've seen off the shelf enclosures with built in battery holders but I don't know whether I've seen 3xAA specifically. You're probably not going to find one that has a power switch or connectors off the shelf, you'll have to drill holes and install that stuff.

I like looking through the Hammond catalogue for things like this:
