gate driver transformer 1:1:1
« on: October 29, 2012, 07:37:25 pm »
hello everyone i have been doing a little research on LLC resonant half-H converters and came across something i don't understand.  below is a simple diagram of a 1:1:1 gate driver transformer and i understand the controller sends a signal in the primary one side or the other [pos or neg] depending on which gate you want to open, but in all the schematics i found the MOSFETs are all N-Channel so why don't both turn on? maybe i am just being an idiot but i would think both would come on.  if anyone knows a simple explanation would be nice thanks for the help.

one of those gate coils should be the other way around, the normal usage is while one of them is slammed positive and fully conducting, the other is slammed negative and in full cutoff,

There should be dots on the coils to denote the phase.
