Protecting PSUs in series
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:31:27 pm »
Hi guys,

I have two 24V 6.5A switching PSUs that I'd like to connect in series and tap in the middle to power two circuits, one at 48V (~2.5A draw) and one at 24V (about 1A draw).

Apart from putting a diode across the output terminals of each PSU, what else is a good practice to do for protection?

Thanks

Well, you could have some fun (even with the diode) if you don't power them up at exactly the same time so maybe something that connects the load only after both are powered up? And make sure that the outputs are floating  ;)
Keyboard error: Press F1 to continue.
