PSpice simulation of LM4871 oscillator
« on: May 12, 2021, 05:21:19 pm »
I'm trying to run a simulation of the circuit below (using a LM4871 model) in PSpice (the TI version) but it doesn't oscillate. Could this be because of how I set up the run parameters, or am I just expecting too much from the LM4871 model?

Lots of people on here use LTspice, if you don't care about the kind of simulator, you might get more help with that just from more people using it.

The pspice LM4871 model doesn't work in LTSpice

I'm confused. I Googled the data sheet for the LM4871 and it's an audio amplifier, not a VFD driver IC, like the LM9022 in the schematic at the start of the thread, but the internals and specification appears to be the same. Are they both the same IC, just with different part numbers, aimed at different applications?

i would try:

  • "Skip initial bias point calculation" settings
  • Add initial conditions - it is IC directive I think. Put there like 0.1V on one cap or experiment..

Yes, the same part with the power of "marketing" applied.

I used the internal block diagram in the datasheet to model the device in LTSpice. I used the UniversalOpamp2 model and set the level to 3b.
