Pull down resistor through LED?
« on: August 01, 2023, 01:59:06 am »
I have a series of signals that need to be pulled down, but need to have an indicator as to when they are at a logic high. I've never seen this done, although I assume it should be possible. The LED will obviously affect the pull down resistance and current. How should I account for that?

Assuming a red LED, R26 could be increased maybe to 1.8k or so, then it would also be a good idea to add a resistor parallel to the LED, maybe 10k.

No, remember the led will drop 2V or so, so this won't be a proper pull.
But you can place another resistor in parallel with the led+resistor, it will do the pull down properly and the led will work as intented.
