PWM control
« on: July 18, 2023, 11:10:46 am »
Does anyone know where I can find a list of laptops that does not use PWM to regulate the brightness of LCD and LED displays?
I find one at

https://laptopmedia.com/top-laptop-p...t-on-eyesight/

but it seems to be rather outdated.
Thank you for help

I think what your looking for is DC dimming or commonly know as "Flicker Free". This has been used for some time over PWM.
Have you looked at this ? https://www.notebookcheck.net/PWM-Ranking-Notebooks-Smartphones-and-Tablets-with-PWM.163979.0.html

Ooh, yeah! I've grown a habit to manually dim the backlight of laptops on display in a store to see, if the screen flickers or not.
Good to see I'm not the only one bothered by this shitty design and my eyes are suffering from the flicker.
The other culprits being the automotive industry as a lot of car dashboards and some red backlights do the flickering.
Thus, driving at night on a dark, but high-traffic road is a pain for me.
