Question about T12 tips and handles.
« on: October 18, 2021, 05:17:36 pm »
I own a Quicko T12-942 and a KSGER T12 V3.1.

I have some Quicko+KSGER T12 tips: 2xK D08 D4 3xD24 D32 2xBC2 B BC3 BL C1 C4  I ILS 2xJL02

I have the following handles:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000116326529.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.1.2be32f163xDfdm

Questions:

(1) Are Quicko tips compatible with KSGER soldering stations ? and vice versa ?
(2) Are T12 tips durable ? should I purchase two of each just to make sure ?
(3) IMPORTANT!! What other tips should I get besides the ones I already have  ?
(4) I want to buy two more handles, Considering the handles that I already have, which handle should i get from this set:? https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Soldering-Handle/1486111_258916859.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allProduct.0.0.5f932dce2sRdHZ

All T12 tips have to be compartible. In real life there are good (better) ones and worse ones, but they are interchangeable.
I find BC1 tip very good for small SMD parts.
You need two or more of each if you work as a pro. But for DIY it is ok to have only one of each, if you are quite accurate.

My QUICKO handle is 4 pin and the KSGER handle is 5 pin...Considering this fact, are T12 tips interchangeable ?

What else besides BC1 do you recommend  ?

The handle wiring is related to the internal temperature sensor, shake sensor etc.
T12 tips are T12 tips, some brands will work better than others, but they're all the same thing, will work on any T12 station.

T12 is a standard of sorts, Hakko developed it, the Chinese copied it. The clone handles and how they interface with the clone stations may vary, but all T12/T15 tips interchange to the best of my knowledge, that's kind of a main selling point.

Should I buy T12 tips from KSGER Official Store or QUICKO Store on Aliexpress ?

I don't think there're quality differences between clone brands.
Perhabs big fabrication tolerances, but probably happens with all.
Any way, what could you expect from a $3 soldering tip? It's already a great value for what it is.

The whole handles with a wire and a connector are different (at least two types), but tips are the same.
I use mostly only two tips - universal (don't remember a type, something like D24) for everything including large parts and BC1 for SMD.
If you work with large parts a lot you may need one more tip - a large tip (D4, C4, DL32, D52, etc).

I have a KSGER T12 solder station with an FX9501 handle. It all worked well until recently. My problem is the SHAKE sensor or lack thereof!  The shake of the handle no longer wakes up the station. I have opened up the handle and the shake sensor has no markings.

Other than the SHAKE sensor (see below) the unit has behaved very well since I purchased it in April 2022.

Does anyone have info on the specs of the sensor.

Thanks,

Rick

I have found a replacement. I used the C&K RB-231x2 Sensor Rolling Ball.  I ordered it from Digikey and their part is CKN10375.

It was a tight fit but it works perfectly!
