Question about the WS2813B addressable LED.
« on: March 13, 2023, 04:45:03 pm »
I need to use this in an upcoming project and I'm lost as to the need for a current limiting resistor. The previous model, WS2812, needed one and showed as much in the datasheet. This model not only doesn't mention it, but doesn't provide the current draw to calculate the resistor if needed. All I can gather from the datasheet is this blurb: "...and voltage programmable constant current control part, which achieves highly consistent color effect."

The best I can tell is that I just slap a 5V rail to it and done. However, I need 280 of these for this project and that's not cheap. I'd hate to blow them all because of something I missed.
Datasheet is attached.

[edit] Nevermind!  :palm:  Quite clearly posted on page 1:

"NO extra components needed, even the capacitor." |O
