| Question on Resistors (Compound) |
| (1/1) |
| codemonkeyrawks:
I have a quick question about Metal Oxide Resistors: A repair project (amp) I am working on calls for a 3W (10Ω RSS P type) Metal Oxide Resistor. Looks like it needs to be around 200 F at most I was curious what the "RSS P-Type" is referring to. Does anyone know where I might find two resistors in matching up. |
| Jwillis:
RSS are small sized metal oxide film resistors.Metal oxide handle higher temperatures than carbon or thin film . For example a 1/2 watt RSS is the same size as 1/4 watt RSF. I believe P type resistors increase resistance as the temperature rises. So really what your looking for is 3 W metal oxide resistor in a smaller form than a standard. |

I think I will see if I can find some online (tricky to find) - I could see this because of the tight spacing on the board I am working on and when I measure a few other's that are similar the temp sits around 160 F but they are also +73V and -73V rails vs being on +2V rail on the final output but at a high current. My best guess is that this acts as an overload : https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1132095/Alto-Pbm8-250-Mkii.html?page=16#manual - (R1_22) back into the circuit or a final filter stage. Thank you! |
