Jo thought about it I too, but it feels a bit dodgy. But may well do so if there is any better way to solve it.
If you want to be sure you get an excellent connection, loop the wire around and solder it to both points (just make sure it won't touch the center lug). If you have a Dremel, you can make it even less likely to fail if you put little notches at the bottom of the ground lugs, and wrap the wire all the way around, in the notches, and then solder it. The notches aren't necessary, but they would help keep the ground wire from being pulled away from the jack. But there shouldn't be much pressure applied on that wire, really, anyway.
You could potentially also source or make a grounding ring with a solder lug that has a hole, if you really want. Again, I wouldn't say it's necessary. And it would add a little more resistance that way. I don't prefer grounding rings.
Overall, you need to be more careful when soldering this than if you had a grounding ring because there's a lot more metal in this and you'll need to be sure to get it hot enough.
