Repairing mini DJ Controller

Hi you all.

I've got this cute Numark DJ Controller that I dug out of storage after a couple of years, plugged it in and all I get is one of the lights briefly flashing and then nothing.

Its power comes from a USB cable which goes into my mac, the end that goes into the controller is a USB type B mini connector. I've tried a different cable and get the same problem. The light always flashes for a split second when cable is partly plugged into the socket, whether that's at the mac's end or the controller's end, it's always the same quick flash when it's partially connected.

Can upload pics/videos whatever if it makes it easier.
