Title: Rigol DS1102E versus Owon SDS710 - Learning curve?

Considering it's my first DSO, which one to pick?
Learning curve? Best long-term choice?

Rigol DS1102E = 325 euro         100 MHz    1 GSa/s     1 Mpts memory
Owon SDS7102V = 350 euro         100 MHz    1 GSa/s     10 MSa memory

My main concerns:
- Owon = Deep memory. Silent. Big screen!
- Rigol = Community support and experience.

Would you not also consider a Siglent SDS1102CML?

I would never buy any Owon stuff. Go for Rigol or Siglent.

Siglent SDS1102CML is available for approximately 300 euro.

Why? From professional point of view? Or also for hobby use?
Durability is important, but I'm not going to use it that heavily.

Each and every DSO has quirks of operation, however the extra features a DSO has will have you using one for most work.
Dave has done some good videos recently using more advanced setting on DSO's to dismiss some commonly held beliefs re CRO vs DSO usage.

The Siglent has a user definable pop up menu, that can be left exposed or hidden (manually or auto-hide) to give the full advantage of a widescreen.
Search the forum for reviews on the Siglent.

Member rf-loop is a Siglent agent in Finland.

I'd go with Owon myself.

I don't own a Rigol but Simon's recently sold his and bought an Owon which I my opinion is better. I own the same model as the one you're referring to but it was a bit more expensive because it included a battery.

If you choose Rigol, don't go for the 100MHz model, get the Rigol DS1052E and hack it.
