Hi
I'm having problems with my ft232rl which was at least recognised by my pc. I moved the txd and rxd because I swapped them around on the arduino side by accident.
As well some tidying up of wires. Now it won't even be detected by my pc. I have checked I ground everything inc the test pin.

I'm wondering if there is an easy way of checking if I've killed the chip? As far as I can tell it's fine because the 3.3v out is delivering 3.3volts. Is there a way I can use my scope to see if it's
oscillating? I didn't get anything on pin 28 or 27.

I'm using the self powered design I got from the datasheet. 4.7K (top resistor) 10K (bottom)

Typically AGND (pin25) is also connected to GND.
EV of course. Cars with smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum. In Finland quite all electric power is made using nuclear, wind, solar and water.

I've done that aswell oh well. So there really isn't an easy way to test if it's dead?

What is the test pin for? I am not being sarcastic here.

if you dont have proper tool. get a fresh new chip, try install it carefully, and compare how it works with the CUT (chip under test).

I assumed I can't use that pin since I couldn't find any references to it other than it must be tied to gnd.
So what do I need to test the chip then?
