Hi, I must be missing something, so I am going to ask a silly question. Why does the DP832 cost more than the DS1054Z ? Surely there's more to the Ds1054 ? Can't wrap my head around, |O it unless it's just marketing. Thanks |

Production costs of this two products may be quite similar. General expences, net margin, taxes are also comparable. R&D costs may differ much, but in high volume production they are not so important. |

I’d imagine they sell at least 10x more DS1054Z than they do DP832 given the number of people I see on Youtube who seem to have a DS1054Z* and not a DP832. Marketing plus R&D RoI. * Increasingly I’m suffering nerd cringe when I see tech reviewers and commentards with the DS1054Z used either as a set ornament, or, when they do very occasionally use it, struggle royally to do so. It’s like we’re all pianists, we can all play the notes, just not necessarily in the right order. (Joke copyright Morecambe and Wise). |

It the price per kilogram that tips the scale... ::) |

The DP832 has a 200W transformer in it, with a lot of copper and iron, plus some big heatsinks and power MOSFETs. A little computer plus LCD and some button handling is in both the DP832 and the DS1054Z, but this stuff is very cheap nowadays. Copper and power stuff is not. |
