Help me identify a Strain Amplifier
« on: June 25, 2021, 01:30:26 pm »
Hi:

I recently became the owner of a rack with three 6M81 strain amplifiers and one 5636 control unit, all made by a brand called "San-ei" (I do not have the sensors)

I tried searching the web for any data without any luck. I originally bought them cheap to use the rack and house my own electronics in the bins, but would appreciate if anyone here could point me to the uses that this device could have had in it's previous life

Many thanks, and sorry if this is not posted in the right forum.

On the 4th page of this PDF:

http://actaorthopaedica.be/assets/846/8372646.pdf

there is a description of measurements taken with the "6M81, NEC San-Ei Instruments, Tokyo".

In 2006, Nippon Avionics acquired NEC San-ei Instruments and in 2008 changed its name to NEC Avio Infrared Technologies Co., Ltd.

Wow thanks!

So if I understand this correctly, the amp is designed to be operated with two sensors in a Wheatstone bridge. Since the signals coming from strain gauges are normally very small (micro/mili volts right?) I wonder if perhaps this amp could be used as null detectors with good sensitivity.
