Scope probe replacement
gkmaia:
I want to replace my scope probe. But I have no knowledge to choose a new one.
Can anyone give me some reading that would help me doing a more informed decision on which one to choose? In terms of resistance, capacitance, attenuation...
My original one was Leader LP-16BX
Digging into this website bellow I could roughly find some specs

Oscilloscope Probe 40 MHz X1/X10 600V 59 inch
tggzzz:
There are many different classes of probe, for different purposes, with different advantages and disadvantages.
See https://entertaininghacks.wordpress.com/library-2/scope-probe-reference-material/ and you will be in a better position to give us the nformation necessary for us to advise you.

Well, I bought a new scope in 1986, and it came with some Probe Master probes, I think. They lasted about 2 WEEKS. I got some cast-off Tektronix probes from work, and they are STILL working! Ummm, that's over 800 times longer life. (I did have the hair-thin wire in one of them break, but I was able to fix it.)
Just get a generic 10X probe, and it should have enough compensation adjustment range to cover most scope's input attenuator. If you want to be sure, look up the input capacitance of your specific scope and check that the intended probes cover that. All scopes should have a 1 Meg Ohm input impedance.

I’m not sure Probe Master could have built the reputation it has (nor, indeed, survived as a small indie company) if their products were that bad...
