Searching for a new Soldering Station.
« on: December 20, 2018, 09:43:10 pm »
Hi all

Im new here.

Due to a Grate Dane vs Hakko 888 incident im in nead of a new soldering station ( duct tape and hope wont cut it )

Im my search for a new soldering station I found Dave's youtube video on the Weller that released the magic smoke.

This has put me in a state of what do i buy now. Ive been looking at the STM32 t12 china options but from what i read they are hit and miss. Im after something priced like the 888 but an upgrade ( When the wife agrees to replacement gear always upgrade because you dont get that luxury often lol ).

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Troy.

An FX-888D seems like a logical choice. It really is the best value in its price range.

The Pace ADS200 (which came out this year) has surpassed the Hakko FX-951 for the same money. Otherwise the Hakko FX-888D is the best value budget non Chinese station. If you want something better than a FX-888D don't pull the trigger blindly before checking the Pace ADS200 out.

Soldering/Rework: Pace ADS200, Pace MBT350
Multimeters: Fluke 189, 87V, 117, 112   >>> WANTED STUFF <<<
Oszilloskopen: Lecroy 9314, Phillips PM3065, Tektronix 2215a, 314
