selecting smd capacitors by series

i am replacing bad smd capacitors on a bose radio cd.   the cd player skips   rubycon and panasonic have lots of series... how do i select the best smd capacitor for my use?
should i choose the smd capacitor by the materials it is made with  example polymer etc.   is there explanations for there series  thanks  i am a bit confused

In detail, this is a difficult question.
If you want to make sure to select the appropriate part, you would have to look it up in the service manual.
The suppliers have different series specific for ESR, lifetime, temperature rating, size, mounting options and more.
Polymer caps have an excellent ESR, but suffer from leakage current, so ideal for power supply filtering but inappropriate for signal path or timing applications.
