| Separating power busses into domains on a backplane |

I guess that this is right up T3sl4co1l's alley... A while back I read this interesting post about transmission lines and termination for improving signal integrity. vagrearg.org/content/transline The part about separating the power domains of the sender and receiver parts of a transmission line was new to me - but how do I select chokes and caps for this? Should one one use both bypass and bulk caps at both the top and bottom parts of the choke? And what about the choke itself - could any off-the-shelf parts be used for a board that pulls 2-3 amps? Or maybe it would be easier to just wrap a dozen of turns of magnet wires around a ferrite toroid code (which I absolutely have no idea of how to select) and hope for the best - as long as one doesn't make things worse? |
