| Shaded pole motor frame |

Just wandering if it's possible to make a modest light duty transformer from a shaded pole motor frame ? I was thinking with the copper shaded ring removed, then tape the core and wrap some appropriate wire for a secondary. And not exceeding the primary current drawn from any corresponding secondary winding. Does that sound feasable ? Don't like wasting stuff, I've no use for it as a motor. But could use it as a light duty transformer, low voltage that is. Thoughts appropriate. Thanks for reading. |

It would probably make a terrible transformer. Is it in good shape as a motor? Seems like somebody could use it, motors tend to be more expensive than transformers. |

Yes it's working as a motor, it's no use as a motor to me unfortunately, I know there's not as much silicon steel on that side of the motor. But I was thinking turns on all visible steel opposite the primary winding. |

You could build a fan, or a Van de Graff generator, or a vibrating tumbler, or... |

Cheers for the ideas, just not my thing really. Thanks anyway. |
