JST connector cunfusion!
« on: November 26, 2020, 03:58:47 am »
Hi there,

I am a little confused!
I want to use two different connectors in my project.
The JST PUD and the JST PA connectors.
One uses the SPUD-001T-P0.5 inserts and the other one uses SPHD-001T-P0.5 inserts.

I have searched for some proper dies for my crimper and found these (624 1325 3 01) from rennsteig.

My question is that if I get these dies will I be able to crimp the spud as well? The manufacturer only makes these dies for the sphd and I think that it is possible to crimp both the sphd and the spud with them otherwise they would make the dies for the spud as well or am I just fantasizing here?

Please clarify as I couldn't find enough information about the crimping section of these inserts.

I will attach both datasheets.
Ps. The datasheet calls for for two different dies, is it just to make more money or are there really differences in the crimping section of these inserts?

Thank you in Advance!
Best regards from Germany!

The PUD is a narrower diameter but other dimensions are the same. So it looks like it will work in that it will at least fit.
Will it be an ideal crimp? no idea.

The PUD official crimper is here: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/jst-sales-america-inc/WC-PUD1/1989505
