Title: Show Ascii for I2C on Keysight DSOX1204G
Post by: manuel42 on April 15, 2021, 11:51:23 am
I try to check the I2C output on a Keysight DSOX1204G Oscilloscope
It shows the data and it even lists it in a table.
Does this Oscilloscope support showing ascii instead of hex?
If so, how can this be configured?

X-series keysight scopes absolutely can decode digital data into ASCII, it's an advertised feature on all the datasheets. The bus must be configured for at least seven bits, then go to Serial > Settings > Base > ASCII. The exact menu path for the dinky little 1000G's might be slightly different to what I know, but it should be there unless the function was removed in the economy models (unlikely).

This is what i've thought, but i can't find this setting.
I've attached screenshots of the configuration, but can't find the settings menu.

My bad i guess.
It seems it just depends on the protocol and when i check serial (UART), i get the the selection for hex, binary and ascii.
I think ascii just doesn't make sense for I2C
