Silicon Encapsulated Electronic Board
« on: June 21, 2022, 10:17:42 pm »
I have a broken battery drill controller card.
It is plastic that the board is in and then ecapsulated with silicon all around.
I removed a lot of the silicon with a heat gun and something to scrape the silicon of.
Not easy to take off and very easy to brake things.

Is there anyone who have a more delicate way to remove the rest of the silicon?
A way with less chance to destroy components in the process.

Someone who know how these controller board works, who can give me some tips in the troubleshooting?
The Battery drill died when i dropped it from short height, but it fallen from higher height before. It was a crack in the plastic of the encapsulment.
Board is very protected, but i guess something can have happened on the board from the shock.

I think you mean "silicone" (think Pamela Anderson).
Heat is not the best idea.
Mechanical removal with tweezers is better, assisted with a bit bit of acidic acid, eg, using a small brush. The parts will survive that, but rinse with demineralizrd/boiled water at the end.
But it stinks.
