| silicone thermal grease + adhesive? |

Total beginner question... what is the white stuff encasing the thermister in the attached pic? It is clearly some sort of thermal grease, but it also hardens and appears to perform an adhesive function. Is it something like: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Lube-98003-Silicone-White/dp/B0044NI2M2 And a followup -- how would I find the bracket holding the thermister? (I suppose I could just make one ... it just looks like a small metal tab curled at one end and a screw hole at the other.) |

It's more like those things sold on ebay |

Thermal grease is just that...not an adhesive. Thus the screws. T/c clamp is probably custom, so make your own. Ken |

I have seen the clamps before but do not know what they are called. Keystone might have them available, maybe a cable half clamp? http://www.keyelco.com/category.cfm/Cable-clamps-Nylon-Steel/Steel-Half-Cable-Clamps/p/1260/id/434/c_id/818 Adhesive thermal compound is a standard product which is suitable where the mechanical construction will not keep normal thermal compound in place. In the past I have not bothered using it; I just epoxied the sensor in place with something like epoxy 907. https://www.miller-stephenson.com/product/ms-907-two-part-epoxy-adhesive/ https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Hysol-gram-Epoxy-Adhesive/dp/B000WXDLAQ Thick cyanoacrylate like from a hobby store would work also. |

Won't it affect the thermal conductivity from heat sink to the thermister? |
