Simplest Rectifier for LEDs

(1/1)

wheemzy82:
Hello,

I have a 1600v bridge rectifier module.

I have LED strip lights.

The original power cord for the LED strip (which I lost) is 100-240 AC to 125vdc output @8A with a built in 8A fuse max.

Any foreseeable problem with using this module given that the module is rated for much higher power?

The only reason I am reluctant is because I haven't quite grasped when a power supply is active (which would destroy the leds?) vs passive (which is presumably ok).

Thanks,

Matt

The two are most likely not interchangeable.

A 100 to 240VAC to 125VDC module will be a switched mode power supply, which will regulate the output voltage at 125VDC, even if the input voltage changes.

A bridge rectifier is just that, a simple bridge rectifier, with no smoothing or voltage regulation.
