Title: SMD part id
Post by: Agentfoot on November 07, 2024, 10:48:28 pm
What exactly is this part? Picture of a broken on then another I found that looks to be the same. Has 3V in the middle above pin1 mark a = on the left and = and o on the right.

Forgot to add its about 1.5mm by 2mm

Manufacturers use 2 or 3 character IDs on SMD transistors, Voltage regulators, etc. given the number of possibilities, you really need to refer to the circuit as 2 characters of ID are not sufficient to accurately determine the part, unless you are very lucky.

This database lists over 30 possibilities:

The markings described  in that datasheet do not match the markings on the chip in the photo at all.

^pin count does not match either.

I truly don’t understand why someone would bother to reply with an answer that is so clearly and obviously wrong. It’s not as though it’s some subtle difference.

Then the new twist. I just realized my cheap microscope mirrored the picture. So the chip actually reads "VE".

I know it had something to do button presses, since I have some buttons that no longer work.

I suppose I could take some measurements on the good one to help try and id it.

That sure looks to be it. Im not sure if the markings on the left and right mean anything because they are different. I took some voltage measurements included on my drawing.

Note that IC comes in several different packages that may look the same on the picture but dimensions are different.

Ok thanks. It's going to take a miracle to actually get the part mounted. I don't work with stuff this small normally. But it's already broke so mind as well try.

Those are easy to solder as long as you have a decent flux and a good pair of tweezers!

Edit: and good light. Trying to solder little fiddly shit in bad light is horrible.
