Snow Blower Lights

I'm thinking of hooking up an LED light bar to my snowblower. The machine has a 12V battery used for starting the machine. I wanted to hook up a light bar directly to the battery. I'm not sure how to spec it out. I'm new to the arena so I'm just trying to apply my very limited knowledge. When running, the voltage difference at the poles is 16.5 V as there's a charging system for the battery when the machine is running. Does this mean that I need to be looking at 16.5 volts for the lights? I've seen some instructionals on the internet for snowblower lights including a rectifier and capacitors but this seems to be for a batteryless system and alternating current.

A light bar intended for installation in a vehicle should already be designed to handle alternator charging voltage. Typical vehicles are very-very approximately 12V. That voltage varies by a lot, and anything designed to installation in a car must be able to handle that.
