Soft push button using latching switch
jiko:
Hi,
I am planning to convert my wall switches to push buttons so I can use them in my smart-home system. I came across to EEVblog #262 - World's Simplest Soft Latching Power Switch Circuit, but I need to do the opposite. Is there a schematic that uses passive only components to convert a simple SPDT to a momentary push button?
Thank you for any input.
Edit: Every time the switch changes position an active high pulse of 3V and duration ~500 ms should be fired.

You need to describe how you want this to work, e.g. do you want a pulse of fixed duration every time the switch position is change changed, a pulse when moved to one position but not the other, do you want active low or active high pulse, what voltage etc..

Why restrict yourself to passives only? That rules out a whole bunch of solutions that may be beneficial.

Sounds like a homework assignment.

Hi mikerj,
Thank you for your reply. Every time the switch changes position an active high pulse of 3V and duration ~500 ms should be fired.
