When 1206/0805 surface mount PCBs first started to appear the old 'gray beards' complained that 'electronics just wasn't serviceable any more' Now we have 008004 and people are still trying to solder it at home :D |

As a hobbyist I think 0603 is the sweet spot... that size is where components get super cheap so you can order 100s rather than 10s. |
