What would be the best tip to get to practice smd work?
I have a weller wes51.

Ideal tip size will depend on component size and board density.
The ET series tips for the WES51 isn't very divers being only conical, chisel and hoof style. The ETA is a 1.6mm wide chisel tip, that would be my choice for general SMD use.

Personally I've found that any small tip will do quite well as long as enough flux is used. I don't have a Weller, my iron is an Ersa, but for stuff like tiny SMD caps or SOT-23 BJTs etc. all the smaller tips give perfect results as long as enough flux is present. I tend to use an offset pencil tip most of the time for smaller stuff just because it makes easier to get into tight areas.
