Solid state relay question
« on: December 26, 2016, 12:42:28 pm »
Hello,

You can buy there solid state relay boards http://www.ebay.nl/itm/5V-8-ch-Solid-State-Relay-Genuine-Keyes-Module-240V-AC-2A-Arduino-Flux-Workshop-/121957116913?hash=item1c6535ebf1:g:ZwwAAOSwKfVXEOsB

And i think this is the datasheet for the relays http://www.rhydolabz.com/documents/29/Solid_State_Relay_g3mb_datasheet.pdf

but i am wondering I need to switch 24v ac and i get the feeling when reading the datasheet that they will not work for 24v ac

can any of you confirm or deny my suspicions?

It may not work for the low voltage you specify.

The reason is outlined in this document on page 2-14

http://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/at/700-at001_-en-e.pdf

The output side uses the applied voltage to trigger the internal triacs.  If it's below the design threshold it will trigger late or not at all.
