Im working on a project where i need to measure a small amount of linear movement (a few millimeters). I had a few laying around but cant find a supplier for them does anybody know of any company who produces or supplies these types of potentiometers? I would like to hear if anybody has a better solution for measuring very small movements in one axis The below image is of the linear potentiometer. |

What level of accuracy do you need? How fast is your target moving? |
| Sudo_apt-get_install_yum:
The speed is variable but it’s never more than a few millimeters per second. The accuracy should be somewhere between 1/10mm - 1/100mm. |

Maybe the same idea behind precision rulers/calipers... Maybe you can repurpose a mouse sensor Maybe you can do some infrared led and detector annd measure change in light as object moves permanent magnets on partt, hall effect sensors on botom? |
