Suitable RIFA replacement
« on: April 04, 2021, 06:13:10 pm »
Hi,

I am looking for a suitable replacement for a blown 10nF RIFA capacitor (model PME 265 MB 510).
It is (used as) an X1 filtering cap in a Tektronix 2215 scope I am trying to repair.
My first option would be the Kemet R413I210050T0K (datasheet here: https://docs.rs-online.com/906c/A700000006618006.pdf).
Do you see any issues with this replacement?

I would also consider other physical formats for the cap (i.e. disc-shaped), as long as they do not exceed 10 mm in diameter since, when installed, the cap is sitting right under the mains filter module and there is not much room in there.

Thanks!

Lots of possibilities: EPCOS, TDK, Kemet... whatever fits.

There are plenty of potential options to choose from...

For example, here are a few X1 rated film and ceramic safety capacitors at Digikey.

(You can, of course change the .ca to .co.uk or whatever to surf in your local currency.)
