µSupply, portable battery powered power supply

Hi
i was thinking recently of making small battery powered power supply, i came across Dave's µSupply https://www.eevblog.com/projects/usupply/

it seem very simple and straightforward, i wanted to stay at 'part 3', so no digital control, just 2 pots, maybe change the regulator to TL3083

of course, that design is from 2011, and had some major changes in actual schematics for digital control in rev A,B,C as opposed to schematic i captured from video
i even made that schematic in EasyEDA https://easyeda.com/Mr-Auto/Zasilacz-podr-czny

So question is, is it good idea? i really like the linear nature of this circuit and having range from near 0V

should i change approach, maybe go with other ic?
what your idea of this whole concept?

In case you pick lt3081, circuit will become very simple, like one shown in the product page. You need to replace Rset and Rilim resistors with pots and basically that's it. Note that Dave's supply you show, have slow current regulation speed. It can exceed set current for quite a time - when load is connected to enabled output of the supply. [edit] Just noticed that LT3081 have quite low resistor as "default load". You better take that part from Dave's circuit or even better - design current mirror so it works at least down to below 1V.
