Temperature controllable soldering iron recommendations
« on: March 18, 2023, 02:46:06 pm »
I do projects that include electronics and 3d printing. Recently I saw a video on youtube where A guy was using a temperature controllable soldering iron to weld PLA together. That is something I'll need soon and also I'm going to be starting a fairly large (for me) circuit.

I'd like to get a decent version of one and I'm willing to spend a reasonable amount if it's good quality. The one I saw in the video was similar to this one.

Please suggest recommendations for your preferred irons. Also what is a good temperature to solder at?

Here's the PLA smoothing/welding video if you are curious:

For light work Pinecil is good. And cool. RISC-V inside and you can re-program it if you want.

It's a bit more expensive, but still $40 doesn't break the bank.

The one you pointed to says "thermostatic" not "PID" and it almost certainly wont be PID I think, so it won't hold temperature as well.
