« on: May 27, 2020, 11:10:45 am »
Hi, my coffee machine won't switch on...😲😲😲
I've dismantled it and have possibly found the culprit.
But I need help identifying the value of the capacitor/resistor???
Please help, I need my coffee...

Yeah the give away is that little bubble on the surface and then the crack on the side. Please also include the brand and model number of what you are working on so others can benefit from it.

Orange Black Red Gold 3mH?

Going to also want to check the diodes around that area as well.

Broken coffee machine is pretty much the worst case scenario in any work environment!  :D

These LNK364 fail so frequently in washing machines, there are sellers on ebay offering bundled kits of LNK364 with inductor and resistor. Guess they don't survive surges very often.

Critical survival equipment needs a backup.    Sort of like the beer (or coke zero) fridge in the garage.

As for what that deice is I have no idea.

Got some LNK364 from a local store for a repair and they appear to have an alternative pinout, with BP on pin 1 and Gnd on pin 3.
What's that? Couldn't find anything on the web.

Maybe the LNK364 is a good ebay seller because the alternative pinout variant i found dies immediately when used as a replacement. LNK364 can't stand a short on BP.

We gave up on automatic espresso and café machines, complicated, need maintance and bad coffee.

Even Swiss made Jura and Capresso are unreliable.

Suggest you check the Bialetti Italian  Moka pot stove top
https://www.bialetti.com/it_en/moka-express-experience

Great café and moka, easy to clean and no electronics!!!!

Enjoy

In case it helps anyone in future, here are my notes from repairing my DeLonghi Lattissima Nespresso machine in May last year.

Quote
Not powering on
No LEDs
Draw 1VA (<<1W)

PCB labels: "Nespresso Lattissima Switching" "05/07/2010" "Procond Elettronica"

When removing PCB, labelled wires as F1, F2, F3, F7 etc

PIC18LF2520-I/SO - only getting 1.8V for power pins

Uses LNK364GN (Power Integrations) chip

R55 = 47R 3W 5% fusible resistor - open circuit
L1 = 1000uH (1mH brown black red gold) measured 1.6uH 1.6R and signs of damage
C1/C3 = 4.7uF 400V Nippon Chemicon KMG Series 105C (EKMG401ELL4R7MJ16S) measure OK & 4R ESR

Replaced
- L1 with Bourns RLB0913-102K (1mH 350mA) slightly too big to fit between caps
- R55 with 2 x 100R 2W Ohmite resistors (parallel)

Still didn't power on - and the 100R resistors are now open circuit

Internal short in LNK364

Ordered from RS
- LNK364GN
- Vishay 47R 3W AC03 Fusible Safety Resistor
- Epcos B82144A 1mH 200mA 3.8RDC Axial Inductor (bigger than old one)

Fixed!
