This power supply is dangerous right ?
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:39:09 pm »
I pulled this power supply (220V AC) from a cheap shaver i bought. I suspected that is was quite poorly made, had that cheap plastic feel to it.

I don't see any isolation slots, and it seems quite dangerous for a shaver. This is after all something you have close to your face. Notice the N and L markings. The wire was incredibly thin

It runs a small motor at a couple of volts DC it seems, and also charges a 500mAh 1,2V Ni-MH battary too.

Would you trust this ?

It's quite possible perfectly safe, as long as all of the electrical connections, including those to the motor and batteries are well insulated.

It seems you have not been killed using it so I don't think you were really facing a close shave with death.

i saw worst, a shaver with only a diode a capacitor and a resistor , and the DC motor obviously, nothing more.  but it shouldn't be dangerous since all metallic part of the shaver are isolated form the circuit.
