transceiver IC advice needed
« on: July 22, 2015, 11:55:25 pm »
Hello,

I am doing a small project connecting a uC to a vehicle ECU. The communication is using kwp2000 protocol, which is basically a half-duplex bidirectional serial line using only one wire (plus gnd reference and +12v from vehicle battery).

There are plenty of CAN to UART transceivers online, but they are working in differential mode, so CANlow goes way below ground. Tried googling for kwp2000 transceivers and could not find anything. So I guess there is a generic solution for it? I don't want to use discretes and wonder if anyone can recommend anything.

Thanks

Goooooogle for ISO-9141 transceiver. It is the same physical layer as KWP2000.

Try searching for "LIN bus driver".  LIN bus is an enhanced ISO9141 bus standard and uses the same hardware.
