Transformer protection
(1/1)
sureshot:
I'm looking at a second hand transformer, specs below. My question is these are listed at automation use, the thermal fuse wires and thermistor wires, would they connect to the powered equipment. In it original use that is ? If repurposed where would the thermistor and thermal fuse wires connect to ? Any help appreciated thanks for reading.
Connection details
Blue - 0v AC Primary
Brown - 230v AC primary
Black - Thermistor
Black - Thermistor
White - Thermal cut off
White- Thermal cut off
Orange - 0v secondary O/P
Yellow- 27.5v secondary O/P
Primary Input voltage
0 - 230 Volts ± 10% 50 Hz

The thermistor would probably be connected to the appliance powered by the transformer for monitoring purposes. As for the thermal fuse I assume that it would be connected in series with the mains connection and the primary so that it can interrupt the flow of current through the transformer when it overheats.

Thank you for the help, i was thinking similar for the thermistor, but wasn't sure on the thermal fuse. Mainly because there normally buried in the windings and the user doesn't usually have control over its connection. Just didn't want to kill the transformer on power up test.

No problem, the thermal fuse being accessible sounded weird to me too but the added option to omit or do something else with is certainly is a good thing.

Hopefully straight forward to power up, thanks again for your help. :)
