Transistor compatibility for task.

(1/1)

sureshot:
I'm looking at using a different type of transistor as a voltage linear regulator boost transistor. I'd normally use a TIP147 or a TIP36C transistors. I've come across another darlington pnp transistor, the MJH11021, but it's Collector−Emitter Sustaining Voltage is 250 volts. Would that make it unsuitable as a regulator current boost transistor ? All the other parameters in the data sheet are not to far off the TIP147 specs. It has a high wattage rating of 150 watts, as opposed to the TIP147's 125 watts. It's collector current maximum is 5 Amps higher also. Any help appreciated. The data sheet is below for the transistor I'm thinking of trying.

Thanks for your reply. I will give it a go, it just looked a bit more robust in terms of power ratings. Thanks again.
