Trouble finding low profile 12V supply for LED lighting
« on: September 05, 2019, 02:22:10 am »
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I was wondering if anyone has found any anything that can take 12V mains and output 12V but in a package that is 0.5 inches or thinner?

Since many stores make it hard to search based on size, I was originally looking at taking a slim (but slightly over 1 inch) thick AC adapter, then taking the PCB out and removing and wiring taller components so that they could lay flatter, and then 3D printing a 0.5 inch junction box.

The main reasoning for this, is to hard wire some under cabinet lighting for a kitchen, but virtually all of the common cabinet boxes sold now, have a base that is recessed by about 0.5 inches, things would have to be slim in order to keep the power supply and lights from being visible at normal viewing angles.

The load at 12V will be less than 1 amp
The overall hope is to find an off the shelf product that can fit the thickness constraints before having to resort to taking apart 12V AC adapters and trying to get the thickness down to 0.5 inches.

Much of what I have found so far has been 0.75+ thick.
