Is it possible -15V/2A with MC33063?

Hi everyone,

I'm not experienced in this matter. I want to generate -15V from +24V. I prepared the drawing attached. I'd like to hear your ideas.

Yes.
You can make an inverting buck converter. See  9.2.1 and 8.2.1.2 in the datasheet. www.ti.com/lit/gpn/mc33063a

The calculations are simple but a bit tiedious. My advice, do the calculations in excel or other spreadsheet so you can tweak your design.

The mc34063 is essentially the same as the mc33063, the only difference is an improved operating temperature range.

The calculator was very useful. Thanks for this.

The thing that caught my attention is that for 2A current, 7.6A peak current occurs. That's a pretty high value.

On the board referenced, I see only one integrated circuit, one diode and one inductor for this task. It is not clear what the ic is. However, its structure looks simple.
