Agilent 54642D

Hello everyone,

I have a simple question:
The mixed signal oscilloscope Agilent 54642D for 400€, you would buy it or not?

It seems for me like a great deal but maybe a little too much. The alternate question would be: what is there to check the good working state of a second-hand oscilloscope?

Are you kidding! at that price it's an absolute STEAL!
A 500MHz 8M mixed signal Agilent scope for 400€ is an insanely low price.

You could easily sell it for 5+ times that on ebay if you wanted too. Two units on ebay currently for over $6500AU which is a tad high. On first guess I wouldn't sell it for under $4000

The 546xx series scopes are excellent.
These scopes have built in self test. And pretty much if each channel works with the front panel cal signal then it should be fine.

Hi,
   note that there was a recall for 54642D's within a specific serial number range and the fix was to replace the system board. You will find a 'Service Note' on the Agilent website listing the serial numbers of the faulty units. Go to Oscilloscope support and search for 54642D.

Are you able to check the serial number ? It will be on a label on the back of the case and is also accessible via the service menu - make sure they match.
