Understanding Symbol?
« on: March 01, 2022, 02:08:15 am »

Datasheet: https://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Panasonic%20Electric%20Works%20PDFs/PhotoMOS%20hookup%20diagram.pdf (top of page 3)

Bit confused by this example. Solid state relay, on the output it shows AC/DC with no polarity direction. If hooking it up for DC is there a correct direction for GND or does it not matter?

I think it doesn't matter.

It doesn’t matter. If charge can flow in both directions, it can do that in either as AC or DC.

There is no description. There is an equivalent schematic provided, but it may be unclear to less experienced people that are used to seeing DC layouts with only one possible polarity.

What do you think the f'ing image is from? What is that link under the image too? I will help you out, the image is from the datasheet. :horse: Not the highest amp output on this guy. :palm:

his noise floor on the other hand is through the roof.. :)

the output of those photomos devices is bidirectional. There is no polarity. for all means and purposes they are a relay contact.

It's bidirectional, polarity on the output doesn't matter.  I have used the single-channel version of this series for low-level AC signals and as a DC switch.  Read the datasheet for on-resistance, off-leakage, voltage/current limits, etc.
We'll search out every place a sick, twisted, solitary misfit might run to! -- I'll start with Radio Shack.
