Can we extend range for remote RF 2.4Ghz like wifi range extender?

I have a remote button it works on 2.4ghz I want to build a range extender for it just like the idea wifi range extender works.
I want to receive the signal when button pressed, then transmit the signal through NRF24L with extended range module.
I do not know how button is transmitting its key or code to turn on the switch, but I'm sure its one way.

Is it something possible?
what things should i take care of?
