Hi All,
(Before this gets moved to a different category) _ I have a device (PS5 HD Camera) that has gone faulty and I am trouble shooting it to locate its fault, but cant even work out which pin is the +Ve .etc......

Inside and mounted to the motherboard is a USB female connector..... but this is no ordinary USB connector as it is the size and shape of a "Micro-B USB, however this has 9 pins.....but before you reply back with "have you tried the Micro-B 3.0, I can confirm that it is not this shape....

I heave searched the internet high and low, also been on USB.org but I cannot find anything resembling this connector.

Images of it on here:

Anyone able to help me please?

Looks like a Micro-HDMI connector, sure there isn't another row of 10 pins hidden under there somewhere?

This looks like the same dimensions etc.  https://www.we-online.com/components/products/datasheet/685119248123.pdf

edit: with updated pin count and link.

The row of traces coming out to the right of the connector suggest there are more pins under there.

@jc101 - definitely only one row of 9 connectors - See additional image displaying cable (male) end

@JustMeHere - the traces coming out of the right... from what I can see with the scope go underneath the connector and dog leg up to the 9 pins situated to the rear of the connector mounted to the board.

@DavidAlfa - looked at that link, thought you hit the nail on the head... sadly that connector has 7 pins not 9 pins

So if this is carrying USB 3.0 signal would you happen to have the pin out for this?

The RTS5482 seems a USB hub so it might be USB 3.0 after all.

The capacitors on one of the differential lines match typical USB3 design. The pinout should be easy to figure out. From top to bottom: ground, diff pair, ground, diff pair, VBUS, one more pair (unused USB2?). The exact pinout could be traced from the differential pairs either visually or using a multimeter.

The connector is clearly not standard, so who knows the exact type. Might be proprietary too.

@ataradov - The IC mounted to this board is not an RTS5482 .... in fact I havent a clue what this IC is because as usual Sony have this IC datasheet locked under a lock and key.

Although the board does have a Common Mode Filter similar to the one in the images you provided, so this is almost identical to what I have a problem with.

I will try your advice in regards to differential pair tracing etc.

Its very common for compact consumer cameras/camcorders to use a proprietary connector to carry analog video (+audio) or HDMI in addition to USB.  Only the original cables supplied with the camera are certain to work, as different makes/models that happen to utilise the same connector may well have different pinouts.

Even if you identify the connector and its pinout, is it going to do you any good for anything except one-off data recovery?  I'd bet against a rewirable mating plug being available - if you manage to identify the connector and find a supplier, odds are the only plug available that's cheaper than the camera will be designed for injection overmolding, so expect to have to design a 3D printed shell and cord grip and glue it on!

@Ian.M - appreciate your advice and with that in mind will most likely put this one to sleep.

It powers on, but just the USB when plugged into the Playstation do not recognise the camera part.
I had a friend tell me that I can test it on a laptop using a special driver installed on my laptop, but it still comes up saying "USB is not recognised" - and does not appear as a device within the Device Manager.
