USB output from audio device (SPIDF/I2S)
« on: August 28, 2020, 08:39:53 pm »
Hi,

I have an audio device that has audio format in I2S or SPIDF. What kind of ready made solutions exist to convert this format to USB output capable of recording the audio device to a computer? Musical instruments and effects often contain such USB capability, and I want to know how they accomplish the task.

TI has several chips that can do this. PCM2902C, PCM2903C, PCM2906C, and possibly others.

Anything higher fidelity than 48kHz/16 bit? And what about the physical outputs?

XMOS and CMedia are two other commonly used USB audio chips. Using them is quite a bit more complicated than the TI solutions.
