Title: Used Fluke 87V with wild ACV readings
Post by: Freebie on March 04, 2017, 12:50:31 am
I brought a used Fluke 87V off eBay and just received it today. All ranges are ok except AC volts. The issue is if you wave the connected leads (connected to COM and Volts and nothing else) around the right side of the meter, the voltage will jump all over the place. I get readings of 2 to over 400 volts. Is this normal behavior or is the meter defective?

That's not 400 volts. It's 400 millivolts or 0.4 volts. Normal operation. You are golden.  :-+

It's my first Fluke and I didn't notice the range. Thanks. ;D
