I bought one in that Aliexpress store and incredibly..... it works!
Of course it is not new but used even if the listing does not specify exactly.
But since it is a product that has been out of production for a long time it was to be expected.
However it does its dirty work and the software also runs on recent operating systems, as long as they are 32bit (due to the USB driver).

Only in one case I was unable to remove the protection from a gal20v8 included in the list of unlockable devices: whoever had programmed it somehow subsequently burned the protection circuit, permanently preventing the device from being read.
The person who did this probably knew about the bug in the early devices.
